What are lil’ boys made of?

What are little boys made of?
Frogs and snails
And puppy-dogs’ tails,
That’s what little boys are made of.

The rhyme forgot to add, as well as a penchant for all other ugly stuff.

My lil’ boy has entered the phase of liking ugly stuff, and it comes in the form of ‘Ben-10 Alien force.’ All it took was two episodes of the cartoon Ben-10 during our recent holiday, and he started asking dh to get him the Ben-10 watch.

Being the slightly more indulgent and pampering half of the parent, dh got him the watch.

With his more menacing than Ben-10 look

This liking has been balanced out with something else a little cuter. He saw the trailer for ‘Ponyo-on the cliff by the sea’ and been singing his own version of the theme song for these last couple of nights before falling asleep…

“Ponyo-yoko…neh-neh-neh neh neh neh…”

I do prefer Ponyo to aliens, although I don’t like how pop culture glamourises both aliens and magic. It is quite startling to see the power of mass media over a toddler. So I have to make sure it comes with alot of parental guidance and all of these will just be limited to imagination and pretend.
