Sleeping Patterns

Kyle and I had this conversation yesterday evening before bedtime about how often he should bunk with hb and I.

Kyle : It will be ‘Kyle’s room, Mommy’s room, Mommy’s room, Kyle’s room, Mommy’s room, Mommy’s room’

Mom : No, it is better when it is ‘Kyle’s room, Kyle’s room, Mommy’s room, Kyle’s room, Kyle’s room, Mommy’s room.

Kyle : I think this one is better, ‘Mommy’s room, Mommy’s room, Mommy’s room, Kyle’s room’

Hb entered the room and added;

Dad : This will be the best – Kyle’s room, Kyle’s room, Kyle’s room, Kyle’s room, Kyle’s room, Kyle’s room, Kyle’s room

Kyle : No…..no!! I love my daddy and mommy, so I want to be with you!!!

Now I am wondering if I am supposed to feel so thrilled that my kid adores his parents so much…

  1. Haha… hilarious how this whole topic can be be bargained about. :) I just got my girl her own bed… but inwardly, I actually miss my girl tossing around beside me. 😛

    I think once kids learn to talk, they will try to bargain for anything that is to their favor ..hehe. Maybe now I am saying that I want to claim my bed back, but I guess when he grows older and decide that sleeping with his parents is not a fun thing after all, that’s when I will start missing him next to me :)

  2. Haha, good bargaining skills he has there. Gotta try bringing him along to the market with you next time. So far, Sophie has been taking to her own room well. Though there are days when she wakes up in the middle of the night looking for us, but at least it still gives me time to sleep like a starfish on my bed.
    How about introducing a reward system to reward Kyle if he sleeps in his room? Will an incentive help?

    Great to hear that Sophie is taking to sleeping independently in her own room really well! Reward system these days don’t work anymore, he has decided that sleeping with his parents supersedes any other form of rewards he might get..sigh..

  3. My boy’s not big enough to open his own room’s door and come to our room. Wonder if there will be a day when he will ask to sleep in my room? Occasionally we let him sleep over during weekend but my hubby says our queen-size bed is too small, so he doesn’t dare move around during the night in case he crushes our boy. He ends up with poor sleep and would be very tired the next day 😛

    I am the light sleeper compared to hb, so Kyle will keep me awake when he takes turns to roll to my side of the bed. I think Kenan will enjoy your company sleeping with your hb and u and might eventually make his way to your room once he is tall enough…
