Space and routines

Finally managed to unpack the last of the boxes yesterday, somehow, the last leg of unpacking just seemed to have taken the longest time. Nonetheless,I am very satisfied with the outcome. Hb and I have successfully gotten rid of most of the clutter at home, and what are still useful and hardly used are now packed neatly into the built-in wardrobes. I really do hope that this signals a start of a clutter-free home :)

Was able to ease into a new routine of having breakfast at home, savouring a cup of Earl Grey tea and doing bible devotion at the same time. After walking Kyle to school and back, I have alot more time in the mornings enjoy some 'me-time' and more time to mess around with my hand-mades 😉

Here's one of the hand-mades I have completed for my bedroom; a bedisde table runner. in teal and off white. The good thing about hand-mades is that you can always create whatever you like for the home, even if there is no such thing as a bedside table runner. My inspiration behind this piece is a reminisce of the 80s geometric patterns, minus the neon shades. I was looking to bring out the monotony of the dark brown furnishing in the room and introduce some shapes and the snuggly feel of my favorite fabric; felt. Next to the bedisde table is my $60 second hand lamp. Still extremely pleased with the price and condition of it.

My little corner of the bedroom

Will be working slowly but steadily on my handmades for the little corners in the house…more to come soon.

Thanks Pauline for the compliments. This is a simple creation that I am quite happy with as it seemed to have delivered the effect that I hope for my room. Been living with dull dark brown furnishing in my room for too long, needed to do some sprucing up with simple, easy to execute ideas.

  2. Love that runner you made! I especially like how there are gaps for the table to show through. We have a lot of dark wood in the house and I’ve been thinking about how to bring in some colour. Your idea has provided some inspiration!

Glad to know that this simple idea has sparked off some ideas on your end for your home. Usually I find that dark wood tend to get very dull after a while, but at the same time, it is still extremely suitable in a shared space, like the master bedroom or living area. Dark wood is a classic afterall, despite coming across a lilttle more masculine than feminine. So one way to liven it up, is to introduce complementary bright/pastel colours…and it gets more fun when u make it yourself.
